Volcanoes Bwindi Lodge
Set amid dense vegetation overlooking the mysterious Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Volcanoes Bwindi Lodge is one of the finest places to set up a base when trekking for Mountain Gorillas in Uganda.
Accommodation at this stylish jungle lodge is in 8 beautiful stone-and-thatch “bandas” (thatched cottages), each furnished with romantically canopied beds, comfortable sofas, and private verandas with views of the wilderness outside. Large ensuite bathrooms contain double vanities and showers with ample hot water heated using solar panels.
At the main lodge, guests will discover an atmospheric dining room where delicious meals are served, a small but well-stocked gift shop as well the Humula Forest Spa, where therapists can treat sore muscles.
There is also complimentary laundry service available here so you don’t have to bring muddy clothes home.
Besides Mountain Gorilla tracking, guests at Bwindi Lodge can follow nature trails to waterfalls or to admire Bwindi’s extraordinary birdlife. It’s also possible to visit the Bwindi Community Hospital or local Batwa Pygmies for an insight into traditional culture. The Bwindi Bar is worth dropping by as well.
